I absolutely love having a Science Notebook in our classroom and I can give you 3 reasons why it works in our classroom...
1. Science work doesn't get thrown away: Students glue their work into their Science Notebook throughout the year and then they are able to take it home at the end of the year as a memento and resource rather than pages to be thrown away throughout the year.
2. We don't waste paper: Rather than copying full pages all year long, our Science Notebook includes half pages that are glued (and easily fit) in their composition notebook. Makes teaching about conserving our resources on Earth Day a little bit easier!
3. Makes students accountable: My students are in charge of keeping up with their own Science Notebook and are given the materials needed to do so. With the table of contents and bookmarks the students are able to organize their work. I also have an example Science Notebook that I create with my students which makes it easier for them to double check their work.
