Week 1 of Mommy School has been quite
interesting. My son is only 25 months old so I anticipated a little
difficulty getting him engaged in some of our activities in the
beginning. He has actually done a little bit better than what I
thought. Since G is so young I chose various activities from my plans to complete during the day. We did some activities in the morning (Calendar, Literacy and Math) and others after naptime (Theme and Bible) with a lot of play breaks in between. Below you will find some pictures and descriptions of a few of
the activities we completed together this week.
{Mommy School: Week 1}
Literacy: Alphabet Wall & Name
Math: Same and Different
Theme: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Bible: Creation Day 1
Before getting started with Mommy School we had to play a little "bay-ball". G loves to slide after hitting or throwing the ball...
Now, it was time for Mommy School to start, so we sat down for some calendar time and singing. G did a great job with his letters, numbers, color, shape, weather and counting train!

We
also worked on our name this week. G started to spell his name a few weeks ago because we sing his name to the tune of "Jingle Bells" at home a lot. He did a great job and after his "me do it" time, Mommy helped
him finish his name. He was able to match up the letters correctly
and in the right order with a little assistance. (FYI: I used sticky
magnet tape on the back of the mat and letter cards so we could play on our magnet board)
We
also learned 'Same and Different' this week. He had a hard time
understanding the how to play the Animal Memory Game, so we will be
playing it a little more often. However, he was able to correctly tell
me if the cards were the same animal or different animals, as well as,
point out which pictures were different in the "What's Different? Game"
(pictures not included).
Time for a break! G loves his "puzzle time"!
G enjoyed Chicka Chicka Boom Boom this week! I purchased an Activity Tree for Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
when I taught Kindergarten and G enjoyed playing with the 'baby'
letters. We watched the song on Daddy's 'pad' and we were both dancing
by the end!
We also made our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree together. G was able to get the letters as I asked for them and put them on the tree!

We
started the Days of Creation this week and I have to share some great
resources I found that I will be using throughout the year. The Read and Share: Toddler Bible is super cute and comes with a DVD, too! The 100 Bible Stories | 100 Bible Songs
is great, as well. I will probably just use the songs this year because
the book is not engaging enough for a 2 year old in my opinion (great for older preschoolers, though). We loved listening to
"In the Beginning" song while we completed this week's craft. (Sorry I
don't have any pictures of Bible time this week...I'll try to make sure
my camera is out next week)
Be sure to stay tuned for {Mommy School: Week 2} next week!
