Let's Explore: Toddler Bug Hunt

After learning about caterpillars and butterflies, it was time to explore and find more bugs!  My little entomologist and I ventured out into the backyard to see how many bugs we could find.  We have seen bugs all over our backyard when we have gone out to play lately, but this time we searched...

and searched...

and finally found a rolypoly bug!!!
We added some grass to our terrarium, and carefully put the rolypoly bug inside using easy grip tweezers.  We continued to search to no avail.
Enter...plastic insects!  Mommy doesn't cringe as much with these and Grayson loved finding them around the backyard.
After finding each insect, he carefully placed them into his terrarium...and he even added more grass after putting them in!

Grayson had a blast looking for bugs even though we weren't able to find many.  He learned about a terrarium, net, and a magnifying glass and how they are used.  We kept our terrarium in the backyard, so that we are able to collect more insects the next time we play outside.
